Vintage Kitchen Curtains - Making a Comeback
Walk into any elderly person's home, vintage store, or antique shop and you are sure to see vintage kitchen curtains. The best part is they are really making a comeback. There seems to be a big demand for older era items. Many appliances are being made to look like they did in the 1950's and so is a lot of furniture, mainly for the kitchen. Almost like the old diner look. Well, now you just need curtains to match!
There are so many styles to choose from these days. But you are not limited to what you can find in the vintage shops. Whether you need a valance or a swag,
what type of material you want, if you want an embroidered look, etc. No matter what type of look you are going for you have many options. While you can go looking in antique shops, vintage shops, or even your grandmother's
basement, you also have the option to make your own. With a variety of styles of fabric available and types of material, such as cotton, organza or the like, you can go a long way in making your own vintage kitchen curtains.
Many crafty people even go so far as adding simple every day items to their curtains to really make them seem vintage. A popular practice is the use of old buttons. I'm sure you have some laying around like most people. What you would do is get a pattern that has flowers or something similar where using a button in the center would look normal. A flower is great because you just put a button in the center of the flower with a simple stitch to hold in place. Add to various flower centers to create a one of a kind look. Some have even been more crafty and taken old vintage tablecloths and turned those into curtains.
Some of the more popular patterns that really give the look of vintage kitchen curtains are ones that include blue and white patterns, fruits, mushrooms, roosters, and even pots and pans.
